Strengthening the Nursing Pipeline: A Discussion about Education and Workforce Strategies with Nursing Leaders

A strong and resilient healthcare system depends on a thriving nursing community–supported by universities, community colleges, health systems, communities, and professional partners. This collaborative network plays a critical role in preparing the next generation of nurses, supporting the current workforce, and ensuring high‑quality care for residents in every region, from major metropolitan areas to rural communities.
North Carolina, which is projected to face one of the largest shortages of registered nurses in the coming decade, is responding with innovation and leadership. Across the state, nursing educators, employers, and partners are developing creative models to meet urgent workforce needs and advance the health of North Carolinians statewide —offering lessons that can be replicated nationwide. Panelists will discuss emerging workforce trends, the role of higher education in shaping the profession, how nurses address care gaps in rural areas and the influence of federal policy on nursing practice.
Join Duke in DC on March 5th for dinner and a moderated panel of Duke, state and industry experts to learn about their collaborations and the impact they have on the nursing community across the state of North Carolina.
The panel discussion will be preceded by a welcome reception and dinner and followed by dessert and networking.
